At Studio IDC, we are committed to thoughtful, safe, and innovative design, which is rooted in rigorous standards, professional accountability, and continuous education. Therefore, we firmly oppose the proposed Florida legislation (HB 991) that aims to dismantle the Board of Architecture and Interior Design, along with other expert-led regulatory boards across the state.

As Studio IDC Vice President Trisha Brookbank states, “This has the potential to be an absolute disaster. If you care about architecture and design as a regulated profession, and you should for safety reasons, if nothing else, please take action.”

Founder and President Stephanie Tyler adds, “Health and safety in our interiors, whether in healthcare, hospitality, or homes, have evolved over decades to ensure comfort and well-being. It is ridiculous to even consider going backward.”

The risks associated with this legislation are clear:

- It compromises public health, safety, and welfare by removing expert oversight.
- It weakens accountability for professional standards.
- It jeopardizes the future of continuing education, which is critical for staying updated on innovations and best practices.
- It reduces public trust in licensed professionals across multiple industries.

Studio IDC stands firmly for maintaining the integrity of our profession and protecting the people and places we design for. We urge you to stay informed, spread the word, and consider signing the petition to oppose HB 991.
