Position Title: Interior Designer
Division: Design

Location: On-Site Only
Reports To: Senior Interior Designer / President / VP

Position Summary:

The Interior Designer at Studio IDC is a full time and mid-level position for an experienced, hands-on, positive, and reliable design professional. As a member of this team, you fulfill on the design intent for hospitality and high-end residential projects for both new construction and
renovation projects awarded to our firm; working closely with the Senior Interior Designer to ensure that all deadlines are met, overall quality of the project is consistently elevated, and that the Principal as well as the client’s vision are met. Responsible for developing and managing creative conceptual designs, you will be creating digital and physical presentations, following through with design development, and
corresponding contract documents e.g., specifications, construction documents, and technical details for new and recurring projects.

As an Interior Designer, your skills and passion will come to life through the following responsibilities:

  • Generate and support throughout the design process, design plans, construction contract documents, elevations and details, reflected ceiling plans, millwork design, furniture layouts, ergonomic dimensions, finish plans, color plans, cost analysis, engineering systems and outside consultants’ coordination, document checking, schematic design and schedules.
  •  Specify FF&E products that are suitable for their application and coordinate with Procurement Department throughout project phases 
  •  Prepare programming and space planning to assess client and project needs
  •  Have a passion for developing design presentation materials both digital and physical
  •  Prepare construction documents using AutoCAD
  •  Attend client and project meetings
  •  Work alongside and understand the functional organization of the project team
  •  Keep organized and check your work for accuracy, omissions, and legibility
  •  Follow and integrate FF&E project budgets into process
  •  Ability to travel as required and participate/supervise furniture and contractor installations
  •  Utilize your phenomenal creative and technical skills in design application software
  •  Work hard, enjoy the process, and learn constantly!

Skills and Attributes that you have already accomplished:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture or related
  • CIDQ Certification preferred
  •  LEED Accreditation preferred
  •  Relevant field experience for 7 to 10 years
  •  Required software proficiency: AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office, Powerpoint, Design Management Software
  •  Well written design specifications
  •  Preferred software proficiency: Studio Designer, Revit or other 3D software ability
  •  Strong knowledge of products from FF&E to materials and interior architecture sources
  •  Well versed in all phases of design process and procedures in both residential and boutique hospitality interior design projects
  •  Creative, foresight, and maturity in design judgement and approach
  •  Excellent English grammatical skills with ability to articulate in both listening and speaking to effectively communicate design ideas with clients and internal superiors
  • Must be able to think abstractly while maintaining organization, attention to detail, and time-management skills; demonstrated ability to work on multiple, concurrent projects in various stages of development
